Bioverse Hat - Symbiosis
$85.00

100% cotton cap. Choose your hat color when ordering. Five-color embroidery.

Inspired by lichens, remarkable living partnerships between fungi and photosynthetic algae or cyanobacteria. Rather than a single organism, each lichen is a collaboration, allowing life to thrive in some of the planet’s harshest environments.

Found growing across rocks, trees, deserts, and Arctic tundra, lichens are often the first to colonise bare landscapes. Over time they help break down rock into soil, creating the conditions for forests, plants, and entire ecosystems to emerge.

The word symbiosis was first coined in 1869 by German botanist Heinrich Anton de Bary while studying lichens, forever changing the way we understand cooperation in the natural world.

Each hat is embroidered individually in our New York studio using a small home embroidery machine. The thread colors are carefully adapted to complement your chosen hat color, making every hat unique.

Part of the Bioverse collection, the embroidery explores the hidden lives of plants and other organisms, drawing inspiration from symbiosis, hybridity, evolution, and the remarkable diversity of the natural world.

Bioverse Hat - Thismia Neptunis
$95.00

100% cotton baby corduroy cap. Five-color embroidery.

Inspired by Thismia neptunis, a rare subterranean flower that does not photosynthesize. Instead, it lives in symbiosis with soil fungi, drawing energy from plants it never sees. A hidden life, quietly extraordinary.

Spending most of its life underground, Thismia neptunis only rarely emerges to bloom. First documented in 1866, it disappeared from view for more than a century before being rediscovered.

Bioverse Hat - Slime Mould
$100.00

100% cotton cap. Choose your hat color when ordering. Five-color embroidery including glow in the dark thread.

Inspired by slime moulds, remarkable organisms that spend much of their lives as single cells before joining together to form intricate, ever-changing networks. Without a brain or nervous system, they can solve problems, navigate complex environments, and find the shortest path to food.

Neither plant, animal, nor fungus, slime moulds challenge the way we think about intelligence and life. Their branching forms reveal a hidden world of cooperation, adaptation, and emergence.

Rock Pool Throw
$300.00

A woven throw inspired by the volcanic tide pools of Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi.

Weathered by wind, waves, and time, these shallow pools reveal worlds that often go unnoticed. Layers of volcanic rock, algae, and tidal life come together to form landscapes that feel almost otherworldly, like portals into another time.

The Rock Pool Throw transforms this ancient intertidal landscape into a woven textile, bringing a fragment of Hawaiʻi’s coastline into the home. It can be displayed as a wall hanging, used as a throw for a sofa or bed, taken on a picnic, or simply lived with as a textile artwork.

• Size: 60 × 50 in (152 × 127 cm)
• Produced in small numbers

Bark Beetle Throw
$850.00

A custom-woven throw inspired by Australian eucalyptus forests, individually embroidered in our New York studio.

The blanket is custom woven with imagery of eucalyptus bark and individually embroidered with patterns inspired by the trails left behind by bark beetles. As these insects tunnel beneath the bark, they create intricate markings that vary between species, seasons, and host trees. Each line is a path, a record of movement, and a trace of a hidden ecology.

Using a small home embroidery machine in our New York studio, layers of thread are stitched directly onto the woven textile, creating a unique surface where weaving and embroidery come together.

The Bark Beetle Throw is part of our ongoing exploration of textiles, ecology, and the stories embedded within natural systems. It can be displayed as a wall hanging, used as a throw for a sofa or bed, taken on a picnic, or simply lived with as a textile artwork.

• Size: 52 × 37 in (132 × 94 cm)
